I laughed out loud when I read on the first page of Hali Kleinfeld's "short graphic memoir" that their native Santa Rosa, CA is where the Windows 97 "Bliss" photo came from (you know, the one with the rolling hills and blue sky) and is also Guy Fieri's current residence. Kleinfeld goes on to sparsely depict the gut-wrenching devolution of an initially promising bonding moment over weed with their younger brother. Their thoughtful use of blank space and ink and paper choices all contribute to the emotional resonance of the comic. I'm excited to see what else comes from Kleinfeld.
